About
me
Jeff Hendricks writes adventure survival fiction YA stories for readers who want more than fantasy shortcuts and easy answers. His latest YA survival adventure book Adventure: Antarctica! sends a high school senior to the coldest place on Earth, where science, preparation, and resilience matter as much as courage. Jeff’s work is influenced by a lifelong fascination with exploration, problem-solving, and how things work in extreme environments. Alongside his books about Antarctica adventure, he has created independent comic book series and worked in game design, experiences that influence his fast-moving, visually grounded storytelling.
When he’s not writing Antarctica exploration fiction, Jeff lives in Washington State with his family and more than a few pets, still curious, still exploring, and still convinced that the world is an amazing place if you’re willing to learn how it works.
ADVENTURE: ANTARCTICA!
Six Weeks in Antarctica will test everything Danny believes about himself.
The "Deep Dark" of the Crevasse
Psychological Isolation
There are no cities or villages in Antarctica, only scientific research stations where people from all over the world work together. The “icy silence” of the continent is what makes these young adult adventure books overwhelming. Danny has to deal with the weight of his family’s problems and his own self-doubt while being thousands of miles from civilization.
Team Dynamics
Katabatic winds” can reach speeds of over 200 mph, creating “whiteout” conditions where you cannot see your own hand in front of your face. In this fiction books set in Antarctica, Danny has to work with Yura, who is brilliant but irritating, and Tatyana, who is guarded and tough. Learning to trust others in a life-or-death environment is his biggest social challenge.
